Poetry and Occasional Randomness
Above the tall pines
An endless sky of bright blue
Infinite beauty
Flowers and green leaves
Hanging on a drooping vine
Nature in color
+
Cat at the window
Staring through the panes of glass
Patiently waiting
+
A door clicks open
Unpleasant smell of decay
Takes over the room
+
Soft shuffling of feet
It enters the tiny house
Looking for a feast
+
Terror fills his soul
Running for a quick exit
The back door is blocked
+
There is no way out
Man grabs a long kitchen knife
Time to go to war

I know I haven’t been posting much as of late, honestly having been doing a lot of creative stuff lately. Kids are out of school, schedule is tighter, free time is tighter as well, and most days I’d rather relax than post in a blog. Just wanted to put that out there in case you are wondering where I have dissappeared to. And next week I finally getting to have a vacation of sorts, going to visit family. This will be the first trip me and my family have taken since Christmas of 2019. Crazy. That’s it and below you will find a picture I was going to write a Haiku about for this post. Decided to write a horror tale instead, but I thought I would leave the picture. I like the way it turned out.
A single flower
Among a fortress of green
Standing all alone
Sleeping kitty cat
Peaceful dreams of sunny days
Running wild and free

Got a new phone this weekend and was trying out some camera tricks. Surprised how well I got this one to turn out. Amazing what kind of pictures a phone can take.
A baby blue jay
Stopping by to say hello
On a sunny day
Bright honeysuckle
Growing wild, untamed, and free
Mother Nature’s treat
Flowers of yellow
Sunshine under cloudy skies
Brighten up the day
Raindrops are falling
Tumbling from a dark grey sky
Softly splattering
Field of butter cups
Among the towering grass
A splash of yellow

And to all the mothers reading this right now – Happy Mother’s Day!
Under a tall tree
Thinking of hot summer days
Sheltered from the heat
Blooming white flowers
Decorating the bushes
Beautiful springtime

I wrote this one a few days ago and forgot about it. Thought I would post it.
Family of geese
Walking slowly together
Hunting for a meal
Scattering of pink
Across the new springtime grass
Color eruption
Two geese by the pond
Ready to take a small dip
In the cool water
Among white blossoms
Enchanted kingdom awaits
Filled up with magic
Tree alive in pink
Spring releasing its color
Pleasure for the eyes

Trees covered in snow
A brief dusting overnight
Children filled with glee

Finally got some snow last night. Not much compared to what others get throughout the northern areas of the U.S., but for my kids it was more than enough to build a snow man and to to get me outside before I started my morning coffee, which I took with me, no way I am leaving it behind. But there is something kind of poetic about standing in the cold, drinking coffee, looking at a snowy landscape. I don’t think we got more than an inch, and it is a wet inch of snow, but in N.C. we will take it. Doesn’t snow much around here and I am fine with that. It makes days like today even more special. Quick question: are you a snow lover or not? Cheers.
Puffy clouds of white
Like a gentle ocean wave
Moving soft and slow
