Radiant sunset
Fall day moves into the night
Kissed by liquid gold

Sunset burning into night
Daylight takes a break

Thick frozen shadows
Blackness of night descending
Light in death’s embrace
A pewter grey sky
Mixed with mirror shards of red
Clouds filled with fire

More from this series:
Soft rosy pink clouds
Blushing as the day fades out
In a bright red light
Sunlight cascading,
fading, into nighttime’s grasp
Evening sky bleeds
After publishing this earlier today I realized two things, the last line had six syllables in it (evening is three not two) and I also wasn’t a big fan of the way I closed the original – Evening sky turns red.
I went ahead and made the changes and then published it the way I think it should have gone out, originally. Us poets, so neurotic, we have to get it right.
Thank you for reading. You are now free to move about the blog.
