Frozen morning chill
Tearing into flesh and bone
Devouring all warmth
Poetry and Occasional Randomness
Frozen morning chill
Tearing into flesh and bone
Devouring all warmth
Soft white snow flurries
Dropping from a lead grey sky
Falling all about
Another cold day
Temperature plunging low
Time for warm weather
Coffee in the pot
Waiting to caffeinate me
This cold grey morning
Grey sky still lingers
Sound of sleet falling lightly
Day frozen in ice
Soft snowflakes falling
Drifting down from a grey sky
Covering the ground
Bird chirping outside
Shivering in the cold air
Singing a warm song
Bright sunshine hidden
Covered by a veil of grey
Rain clouds permeate
A frozen landscape
Winter’s bite upon the land
Buried deep in snow
Thick grey skies above
Soft cold snow starting to fall
Nature wrapped in white
A fresh white snow fall
Twinkling bright like diamonds
In the morning sun
Covered in white frost
The world twinkling like diamonds
In the bright warm sun

This song has nothing to do with this post.
It just popped into my mind while I was writing this Haiku.
Cold chilly morning
Dark and grey overcast skies
Permeate the day
Overcast and grey
Cold air licks at the soft clouds
Pushing warmth away
Robins take shelter
Waiting on light snow showers
Winter’s harsh return
+
Greyish cloudy skies
Cold air, a quick arctic blast
Snow fall imminent
+
Springtime’s fresh flowers
Under the cold frozen ground
Hoping to rise soon
+
A light chilly breeze
On a cold clear blue sky day
Back to the freezer

Well, here we go again. After braving high temperatures on Saturday I am back to running in the cold not only for today, but Wednesday as well, if I make it out then. Just can’t get my body regulated right when the weather is so unpredictable. At least the walk/run was good – .5 walk, 2 mile run, .5 walk. Not bad at all when you realize I had to make myself go.
As a sidebar. Are there any Walking Dead fans out there? Great season so far. Can’t wait till the explosive final next week. I hope they end this one strong.
Cold air approaching
In the distance, blue-grey skies
A winter storm soon
•
Cold icy thick glaze
Nature’s frozen white frosting
Diamond like twinkle
The morning cold breaks
Pierced by the warm sun rays
A world outside that’s so alive
Waiting on the summer haze

Magical fantastical spring
A harbinger of healing hope
Destroying winter’s frozen embrace
Natures way to cope

I wrote this a few mornings ago as I sat with my son while he ate his breakfast. I was sipping on coffee, enjoying the beautiful morning just glad to have a warm day in front of me. Now, today, I see it is ever so gently snowing. It isn’t much snow, barely can see it, but it is there. I think I called it snow drizzle because it is so faint. 34 degrees fahrenheit right now. Two days ago it was almost seventy degrees fahrenheit. Just crazy weather this year. Anybody else done with winter and wish it would just go far away?
By the way, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
Wearing of the green
On St Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing or accessories (the “wearing of the green”).
St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.[13][14] This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it may be older. In pagan Ireland, three was a significant number and the Irish had many triple deities.[15] The triple spiral symbol appears at many ancient megalithic sites in Ireland.
Snowy frozen land
Blanket of white on the ground
Winter’s bitter cold

We finally got a decent amount of snow down here, which is the only part of winter I like. We’ve had our chances, but it always seems to miss us. I know people up North are probably sick of it by now, but if it has to be this cold, why not let it snow? Anybody agree with that statement?
Thick frozen shadows
Blackness of night descending
Light in death’s embrace
