I am trying so hard to get my latest novel re-written. Tough to get back into the groove again.
I contort the pages
Force them into a new shape and form
They adjust uncomfortably
Electronic words are not the norm

I have been going round and round with my Microsoft Word files the past few days. I’ve now discovered a new way to make my EBooks look great in the Kindle and other EReaders – I think. It seems to be working so far, but it involves a lot of trial and error.
The problem I am having is that when I wrote most of my stuff it was meant for print. I just popped open a Word file and started banging away on the keys. With EBooks though you got to nurse it, massage it, take it out to dinner a couple of times before it gives up the goods. You have to go in and manually set a lot of the margins, tabs, and so forth. It is a nightmare on an OCD guy like me. At what point do you just let it go? I could tweak on these things forever. And on top of all that I keep hearing how Word is the devil when it comes to making EBooks. Again, it’s all I have ever used, so my stuff is frozen in Word. Guess I got to just work with what I got.
Your thoughts. Do you hire people to do make your EBooks or are you one of those who go in like I do and try to do it themselves?
If you have an EBook you might want to look into these two sites. Both helped me along the way, and are helping me still.

That’s all. Sorry for the shameful self promotion.
Writer’s hopes and dreams
Spreading out from tip to toe
Alive with desires

I don’t know about you, but when I write or re-write it just consumes me. I have woken up the last two days feeling like I’m coming out of a deep dormant sleep. Coincidentally, I put the finishing touches on my re-write yesterday morning. It’s like my body knows when to push me and when not to push me. That’s what inspired this Haiku.
Anybody else feel that way when they go on a creative binge?
I’m on an island
In the middle of an endless sea
Career hopes, desires, wants and needs
Washing on the shore in front of me
My voice is lost
Hidden by the crying gull
Hunger for a feast
Like my dreams inside my skull
. . . I feel like a fighter
Pushed against the ropes
Chasing incomplete dreams
Each day living through hopes
One day I tell myself
You will have it come due
Tasting in the victory
So sweet so true
A lap top keyboard
Black and white keys springing up
Stories come to life

Query letters fly
Hopes and dreams riding along

Time to do the hardest part of my writing job, contacting agents, trying to get this book published. I can write over a hundred thousand words for a novel, but that one little query letter is the thing that gets me the most. I just can’t nail it down, can’t make it ring and sing. Here’s to hoping this one will work. Fingers crossed.

By the way, 2 years ago I started this blog, can’t believe it has been that long. Thanks to all of you who follow, comment, and like the things I do. It is appreciated.

Not sure if this means I am back to blogging or not, but the subject word at Haiku Heights intrigued me, so I wrote this haiku when I saw it.

My brain feels so flat
I am a little burnt out
Taking a small break

Nothing in the tank
It is just empty and dry
I need some new juice

Running on empty
Nothing to write for this blog

I think I might take a few days away from this blog. Just need to get the creative juices flowing again. I’m also trying to finish the rewrite to my next novel so I need to buckle down. If you don’t see a post or two for a few days, just know, I will be back – hopefully? Thanks again for following.
A light cascading
Shadows cast, night time silence
Writer still at work
Running on empty
Nothing to write for this blog
Juices flowing slow
Tanked 1
Nothing in the tank
It is just empty and dry
I need some new juice
